Access the content YOU want, not what THEY want !

You're here either because you've found yourself staring down the barrel of the death of Global Mode or you're sick of the content selection provided by the local providers here in New Zealand.  Read on and i'll walk you through a very easy set up process of your very own Global Mode.  You can get a one week free trial (with no Credit Card required) & see if it works for you.

Lots of people will mention VPN's as an alternative to Global Mode - however these will mainly only work if you're watching global content on your PC / Laptop.  The setup I will outline here will allow you to watch content on your Smart TV / Apple TV / Chromecast etc. In fact it works on practically any device you have within your house.

Step 1.

Head on over to Unblock-US and sign up for your free trial using your email address.  Like I said earlier there's no credit card required at this stage.

Step 2.

Once you've done that you'll need to setup the service within your devices or to make things easier in the long run, set it up within your actually modem/router.  This step is the most technically difficult, but still not all that hard (it just differs from router to router).

First you'll need to navigate to your routers configuration page and login.  Usually it can be reached via a web browser at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or similar. If you don't know what it is you can find out through the command prompt (Use windows key+R on the keyboard and type "cmd" and press enter). Once there type "ipconfig" and press enter. The "Default Gateway" number is your router.  If you haven't changed your routers login credentials it's usually "admin/admin" or "admin/password".

Now you'll need to find where your default DNS settings are located. They are usually in a place where your Internet Connection settings are.  This page will help you setup most major router brands. Once you've found the settings change it from "automatically assigned by your ISP" (or whatever is there currently) to the following:

Primary:111.118.175.56
Secondary:118.127.33.48

Step 3.

Now reboot your router and wait for it to reconnect and you should be good to go.  Head on back to Unblock-US and it should be telling you your account is active and that DNS is all setup. All 3 green bars should fill in on the homepage.  You may also notice there right on the homepage is an easy selection tool to pick any Netflix region from across the globe to use at any given time.

Step 4.

Enjoy the content you want, on whatever device you want, whenever you want. Now whenever you use Netflix from your Smart TV / browser or Apple TV like device it'll just enter the region you chose in the previous step. You'll also be able to use a multitude of other services from across the globe as well ie BBC iPlayer/ Hulu Plus and many more.

This is a very rough guide on how to set up your own Global Mode, if people are interested I will follow this up with some edits to include screen shots of the particular steps and maybe a short video tutorial on YouTube in the future.  Otherwise, best of luck !

My Setup (if anyone's interested)
